A.F.C. EMLEY

CLUB HISTORY

Formed in March 2005 to play at the Welfare ground Emley, the former home of Emley AFC, who were one of the original members of the Northern Counties East.

When the former club moved to Wakefield only the reserves remained at the Welfare and when the NCE disbanded the reserve league they had no league to play in. The then managers Nicky Bramald and Ray Dennis decided to form a new team and had to compete in the West Yorkshire Association League until their election to the NCE in June 2006. Nicky and Ray have remained as joint managers.

In their first season in the West Yorkshire League AFC finished in third place and were finally knocked out of the League Cup at the semi-final stage. Their hearts and those of their supporters always wanted to bring a higher grade of football back to Emley.

With their first fixture in August 2006 this first hurdle has been achieved.
