Wakefield rivals Hall Green United come to the Fantastic Media Welfare Stadium tomorrow night for a hot local derby in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup. Having exited the F.A Vase and Northern Counties East League Cup, Emley’s chances of silverware rely on success in this competition.
Hall Green United have enjoyed a valiant month in the West Yorkshire League Premier. Despite sitting only 13th in the table, the new boys to the league have endured an immaculate October winning all of their fixtures after the newly promoted side suffered a poor start. Their threat comes from prolific striker Tom Fowler who’s clinched 10 goals in 7 games.
An injury bludgeoned Emley side displayed unity in their recent 5-2 win last time out at home to Brigg. Jordan Townend’s recent step up in form could inspire another home victory, his 2 goals and an assist in the last two games have added a dangerous dimension from midfield.
Emley had struggled for goals prior to the Brigg victory, however Joe Howson’s decision to introduce Tabby Magida into the starting eleven on Saturday was rewarded with 2 well taken goals. Magida will hope to extend this form into tomorrow’s game to maintain his starting position.
Progression in this competition promises fans a long contest of fiery local clashes. But first Emley must stand toe to toe to an away side with intentions of causing a massive upset.
